MERRY CHRISTMAS

Finished - finished - finished all the craft  fairs yeah - well for this year anyway, what a hetic week the last lot was, which was very enjoyable, but now feel a bit lost now, not having anything to make anything, not allowed to do anything until after Christmas -  so been doing a bit of this:

Made this all by myself, was going to buy one, but couldn't find a nice one, all had those tacky plastic flowers  in, so took the bull by the horn and bought a moss covered wire and filled in with homegrown christmas tree, holly and ivy and cones which turned out rather well I think.

Madness

Weeks wizing by totally ignoring this blog, been busy busy busy, lots of Christmas Fairs and craft, I think the first week in December I have 6 all in a row, so might be lying low for a while.  Its so hard to know what will sell and how many things to make, my friend from Cumbria Jo, asked me today what my bestseller will be this Christmas, how do you know that, I just don't know, some things sell out some weeks and then the other weeks something sells better.  Anyway amongst all the madness my sister-in-law and husband are coming to see us, which will be lovely as we havn't seen them for 2 years, so looking forward to that.

Still havn't done the post about monkey, I think monkey will have to wait until everything has died down, in fact monkey is sat here next to me, looking rather smart in a fine needlecord pinafore dress and a cute little brooch, which is actually a clip-on earring, which eccentric daughter adorned on to her.  She is sat on the dogs chair, who isn't too pleased with her!

Here is monkey in her earlier days and me on holiday in Bourenmouth ....

and here is monkey last month in Bournemouth

in the needlecord dress.

Anyway will be here tomorrow

Hope to see you all in blogland soon.

Craft update

Had a good day a Bridport town hall, lots of people going through. Even sold out of Liberty lavender bags with vintage brooch. So only had supplies to make 2 more, have to get more brooches now!

If anybody is in Weymouth tomorrow, do come and say hello to us. We will be at:

Lights, Camera, Action

Well, I bet you all thought I had been blown into blogger cyberspace, sorry its been so long since I have updated, and commented on all your lovely blogs, but been busy with other things, mainly to do with crafty things, getting things made for up and coming fairs, trying to think of new things, source new things and then make everything.

In my last post I showed you all a picture of Monkey and said I would tell you all his/her (don't know if its a girl or a boy) but I'am afraid Monkey will have to wait until next time as wanted to show you all these pictures of a new ITV series they have been filming down at West Bay where we live.  Eccentric daughter and I went to have a bit of a stalk (ooh should I be saying that word or not), anyway they have been filmnig before at the end of August but we didn't see anything, now they are back, having inside information as some have been staying at the guest house where I work.  They have taken over the car park near the old station full of trailer vans, canteen, I think there's more directors and makers than cast, anyway this is what we found on our stalking trip...

Lots of strange equipment

Do you know who this is

He's been in lots of things, but best known for his role as the last Doctor Who

yes, it is him, David Tennant

There was lots of standing around and waiting

He is starring with Olivia Colman, seen here

she was in Hot Fuzz and the Iron Lady and many other, too many to list here, also starring Pauline Quirke and Arthur Darvill, who played  Rory in Doctor Who, and who is apparently starring in a West End Show and is rushing down Thursday night to film Friday, what a busy life!

This pics for eccentric daughter, waving as she was taking a picture

But its always reasurring that everybody

dunks their biscuits in their tea and

wipes their nose

I don't think he was too happy on the boat, it was very rough, perhaps feeling a little seasick

getting to know the sights of West Bay

Everybody was very friendly and didn't mind lots of people about and didn't keep you out of the filming bits

The series which is to be shown in the New Year and is called Broadchurch, is a Detective one about a small coastal town (West Bay) and turns the close-knit community into turmoil as a body is discovered on the beach.

They are back in November filming so I suppose a bit more stalking will be on the cards.

But it was all too much for the mad dog

totally bored

Pictures

Help came by means of eccentric daughter, but now have to do it on Google Chrome, so I can get pictures to upload... yeah .... so here are pictures of the journals, the next lot I make I will take pictures of the inside because I've decorated inside too.  Waiting for new supplies, I got the first lot from my local art/craft shop here in Bridport, but they havn't had any more and don't know when the next lot will be coming, so have had to go further afield via the internet, so hopefully they'll be here on Monday.

On looking at this picture now it dosn't really show you much so perhaps will redo this when made some more.

So moving quickly on from this picture, which all the fuss was about in the first place, last Tuesday had a day out, really to go to Otter Nurseries, hubby wanted a plant, cone flower, Echinea but in a different colour the usual pink or white he wanted orange or dark red or lime, felt sure they would have one there, but didn't, he was disappointed but an ice cream in Sidmouth made up for it.  I did get some lovely creamy hyacinth bulbs to grow though.

Before Otters we called in Honiton we always drive through on the way to Otters but never stop, Tuesday was market day, so quite busy not much on the market, but some lovely little shops and I must say a fantastic W H Smiths for different magazines on the sewing/crafty front, plenty of chairty shops to browse, eccentric daughter bought this lampshade for her room, she had been looking for ages for one like this, it is pink which isn't really her colour, but liked the shape and it is lined as well,  so was purchased for a small amount and came home to have a wash in the sink and hung on the line to blow in the breeze....

and now looks like new

Sidmouth was as lovely as ever, nice to have a walk round and a walk along the front and finished with the biggest ice cream ever also called in Seaton to the new Tesco there, it is a Green/Eco store for a bit of shopping, so a long day but a lovely one.

Just going to show you this picture

This is Monkey.  Monkey is very old and will be featuring in a later post!

No Pictures

I know another week has passed and havn't put any pics on of the journals I made for the craft fair at St Mary's but I can't seem to load any images up, so have to wait for technical help!

Had a very good day, selling lots of things, didn't know whether to take the  journals I had made or save them for nearer Christmas, but decided yes I would and they sold out within an hour, so guess what I have been doing these last two weeks.

Sorry this is such a boring post with no pictures, isn't it amazing how pictures can turn something from boring to great.

Apart from the technical hitch, everything is tickty boo, Olga bird hen is broody no more now fighting to get out in the morning and getting everybody in order.

My next fair is at the Antiques Bazzar at Crewkerne 15/16th September, so hopefully by then will have a full account with pictures!

Bye for now

Day Trip

Last Sunday I had a stall at Dorchester Vintage Market (which was a waste of time) anyway when I was there I met Bob, Bob used to be at the Alleyways in Bridport's Vintage Quarter and when we first came to Bridport we bought a lot of furniture from him, the dresser, table and chairs, chests, shelves and he bought our old table and chairs from us, so we got chatting and he said that he had just opened an Antiques Bazzar and they were having lots of events there, Vintage Fair, Antiques Fair, Flea Market and Homemade Fair and I should come along with Aunt Janes Attic, so Thursday saw us having a trip out to Crewkerne and this is what we found at Bobs Antique Bazzar ....

space for a coffee or tea

where we sampled this
all served in pretty vintage cups of course

Little brown dog came along, as he to loves sniffing around a bit of vintage, lots of good old smells at these sort of places that Mummy is always visiting, especially this cowhide rug, perfect for a little snooze

a sewing room, where you can have alterations done or do your own sewing if you like

overall view of the Bazzar

lots of furniture

pretty plates

pretty washing

lovely linen

plenty of this to wade through

and eccentric daughter absolutely loved this, it was attached to a large clip, goodness know where you could wear it!

So if your in the Crewkerne area take a look around the Antiques Bazzar, or you can look at them here and all the events their having: http://www.antiquesbazaar.co.uk/default.html

From there we went into Crewkerne, because my Great Grandma x4 Elizabeth Lye was born there, married there and buried there.  So we went to have a look at the Church where it all happened...

trying  to imagine my Grandma and Grandad standing here and getting married, it is such a beauitiful church and so warm inside, unlike some churches

Unfortunatey I didn't find her grave, as they are too badly eroded, she died in 1849 in Bridport and was brought back to Crewkerne to the family tomb.

Her family also built this

Crewkerne Town Hall

There is also lots of lovely old houses, eccentric daughter and I were dilly dallying about the houses, with hubby trying to hurry us along, but wouldn't you just want to go and have a look in these houses, what went on in them and who lived there and what did they do, lots of interesting stories attached to them I'am sure.

Well think I better stop rambling now

Bye
